Climate

The variable climate of the Badlands can be unpredictable and extreme with temperatures ranging from -40°F to 116°F. Summers are hot and dry with occasional violent thunderstorms. Strong winds are usual in all four seasons. Winter temperatures are cold with snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 feet. Sudden changes in weather are not uncommon in any season.
